Double trouble

We’re celebrating the arrival of two new gorgeous monkeys bringing double trouble to Monkey Haven. First up, cheeky Malou has given birth to a healthy baby Capuchin, plus mischievous Maya has joined the Squirrel Monkeys, after being rescued by the AAP, the Netherlands based animal rescue charity.

It’s Mummy Malou!

Malou has given birth to a healthy baby monkey – only time will tell if it’s male or female. “The new mum is doing a great job”, says Keeper Terri. “She’s happy to let the others in the family look at the baby and even gently touch him or her. They’re all curious, apart from Peppino, who has ignored the new arrival, like he normally does!”

Mum – who always has a healthy appetite – is currently eating more then usual, which will help the suckling baby to grow big and strong. We’ll keep you updated here and on Facebook!

Introducing Maya

A big welcome to Maya the Squirrel Monkey who has just joined our happy home. She was found roaming the street of Germany – strangely, this was also the way that Djimmy was discovered. The charity, AAP, took her in and found that she was extremely underweight. Says Terri: “Noone knows where Maya came from, however she is super friendly so was most likely kept as a pet. She does have a hunch back so we assume she’s been kept indoors and not had the correct diet or enough sunlight. She settling in really well and loves her food!”
Maya will be introduced to the Squirrel Monkey clan in the next few days.
