Monkey Haven has been shortlisted by VisitEngland in their Awards for Excellence 2017 as one of the top three small visitor attractions in the country!! Monkey Haven’s Founder, Don Walser, and his daughter, Kelly Wickes, will be heading up to the big Island for a swanky ceremony at London’s Hilton Waldorf. On Monday 24 April, over tea and scones, we’ll find out who will win the overall award in our category. We’re delighted to have made it this far but please do cross your fingers for us!
Don Walser, who’s pictured above with a couple of pals, commented: “I’m usually more at home among monkeys than fancy hotels, but I’m really looking forward to this. It means a lot to us to get this kind of recognition, as when we set up Monkey Haven six years ago, everyone thought we were crackers! We owe everything to our amazing staff and volunteers – and we’re so grateful to everyone who supports us through visiting our sanctuary, enabling us to care for more and more creatures in crisis every year.”
