We are so excited to welcome these two gorgeous Colobus monkeys, kindly donated by an animal park when they rehomed their collection. Ulna (pictured above, holding food) and her daughter Thumbelina (shown in close-up) are now settling into life at Monkey Haven, sharing a home with sweet Praia… and Djebra the Red-Tailed Guenon, who was most annoyed initially about sharing any food with them, but now loftily ignores the new arrivals.

These monkeys are small but punch above their weight – they’re the first ones to greet the Keepers in the hope of getting to the food, particularly the sweet potatoes and peppers. Thumbelina is also partial to a belly rub, and will push her tummy through the wire of the enclosure, so that the Keepers will tickle her. She’s a real cutie who likes to hug the others – she’ll even hug her own tail!

It’s Praia’s birthday on Tuesday 3rd April and the new arrivals are an early present for her, as she was starting to get a bit lonely after the death of her pal Sana.

Keeper Terri says: “These two are settling in really well – come and meet them and make them feel welcome! Your visit will help to pay for their upkeep, and you’re bound to have a great time. Hope to see you soon!”
